Amy is the Health and Safety Director at Bright Horizons Family Solutions in Louisville, Colorado. She promotes wellness practices for young children and families while leading staff compliance with health and safety protocols and child care licensing regulations. Amy has been engaged in early childhood education since 2004 when she began her career as a preschool teacher while mentoring graduate students at The Boulder Journey School in partnership with the University of Colorado Denver. Amy is passionate about building healthy early childcare settings for all children, families and early childhood professionals.
Amy worked for Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) as the Assistant Manager of Early Childcare Programs and as the Coordinator of the Teen Parent Program’s Nursery Learning Center. In her eleven years with BVSD’s Teen Parent Program, she led a team of early childhood educators in developing a high quality and comprehensive early learning and parenting education program serving pregnant and parenting high school students and their infant and toddler children. She provided training, coaching, and professional development to support early childhood educators in continuous quality improvement and effective classroom management strategies. This experience along with her current position as a Health and Safety Director in the midst of the ongoing pandemic has been instrumental in driving her passion to support and advocate for early childhood professionals working in a childcare setting.
Amy has a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology with a focus on Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado Denver and a B.S. in Public Health Education from Indiana University. She holds a state of Colorado Director Certification and is currently a fellow in the 13th cohort of the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program.
