Diane Garibay currently serves her community as a Child Care Public Health Investigator and Licensing Specialist in Southwest Denver. Diane has been supporting child care programs with children’s health and safety compliance since December of 2016. Diane focuses on building relationships with providers to ensure that the adults that care for young children have the tools to provide a safe and healthy environment where children can thrive, learn, and reach their full potential.
Diane is a Denver native and grew up in Southwest Denver. She has a deep and personal commitment to supporting the child care programs in the community that served her. Diane has previously worked for Denver Public Schools as a Family and Community Engagement Coordinator at the high school she graduated from - Denver West High School. She has also worked in Denver as a case manager at Human Services in the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Temporary Aid for Needy Families (TANF) Program.
After high school, Diane worked as a paraprofessional at Barnum Elementary. The time spent working with K-5 children sparked a passion to contribute to quality education in her community.
Diane graduated from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and minor in Early Childhood Education. Diane is part of the 13th Cohort of the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program at the University of Colorado at Denver in partnership with the Buell Foundation and Clayton Early Learning.
