Elise DeKraai is the Program Coordinator and Site Coach for the SafeCare Program at North Range Behavioral Health in Greeley, Co. SafeCare is a home visiting child abuse and prevention parenting program that supports families who have young children aged birth to 5. She feels that a way to eliminate barriers is to work with families directly in their homes where they feel most comfortable. Elise focuses her work in early childhood, parental support and education, community engagement and supervising and coaching a team through an equity and inclusion informed lens.
Elise is the Team Lead and Peer Coach for the Incredible Years Parent Support Program and co-facilitates a weekly group with mothers who are currently in a residential facility undergoing substance abuse recovery. Elise knows that substance abuse is a key factor to the majority of open CPS cases and has a strong passion around supporting mothers and helping them navigate parenting in sobriety.
Elise graduated from University of Northern Colorado with her BA, double majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology. She initially thought she wanted to work with teens which led her to her first job after graduating to being a Youth and Family Advocate for teens involved in the judicial system. During her work with teens she started understanding the importance of whole family work and working with families through a trauma and multigenerational informed lens. This knowledge shaped her passion for working with families who have young children in underserved communities.
