Becky Edwards has over 30 years of experience working in the child care industry and has held a variety of positions in the early childhood and school-age childcare sectors. She is currently the Early Childhood Specialist at Healthy Child Care Colorado where she oversees quality initiative assessments and develops training for ECE professionals. She works to ensure early childhood professionals have current and relevant information and resources to foster experiences that promote health and well-being for Colorado's children.
Prior to joining Healthy Child Care Colorado, Becky held many roles including Assessment Data Specialist for Colorado Shines’ Quality Rating and Improvement System, center director for both school-age and early childhood programs, and as a monitor/sponsor of programs with the Child and Adult Care Food Program in several states.
Becky is passionate about ensuring every child receives the best possible start in life and in addition to leading professional development, she also engages in advocacy efforts. She is the Legislative Volunteer Lead for Save the Children Action Network in Centennial where she helps volunteers connect with their representatives to advocate on behalf of children in the Centennial community and serves as a coach for Speak Up for Kids Day.
Becky and her husband of 25 years are the proud parents of 2 children who, thanks to participation in some high-quality early learning programs, are excelling in their chosen schools as they work towards their professional goals. Their son Bobby is studying early childhood education at Colorado State University with the goal of becoming an elementary school teacher. Their daughter Katy is studying mechanical and aerospace engineering at the California Institute of Technology with the goal of becoming an astronaut and working for NASA.
Becky holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music/Liberal Arts from Weber State University and a Master of Arts degree in Education from Concordia University St. Paul, MN. She is currently a member of Cohort 14 of the Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program.
