Meghan Leclerc is a Mentor Teacher at Colorado State University’s Lab Preschool--the Early Childhood Center (ECC). Her role includes educating a young toddler classroom with up to 10 one-year-olds daily. In addition, she mentors intern and practicum undergraduate students to become early childhood teachers through a combination of in-person modeling/instruction, and weekly online content delivery. Meghan works in collaboration with other Mentor Teachers at the ECC to create and deliver relevant content relating to child development and constructivist teaching and learning.
Meghan serves on the Board for the Colorado chapter of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Meghan has volunteered for COAEYC since 2019 on the Advocacy and Policy Committee. Since the Fall of 2020, Meghan has moved into a Board position and now serves on the Communications Board Committee, as well as the Workforce/Professional Development State Committee.
Meghan earned a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from CSU in 2014. Meghan earned her M.A. in Education & Human Development--Early Childhood Education from CU Denver in 2017. She is interested in policy and legislative reform as it relates to access to quality ECE programs across the state and country. She is also interested in educating the general public about ECE and child development, and seeing the value there is in having a deep understanding of the child, from birth. She wants to push the field forward; she wants to provide access to quality education for all families; and she wants to work towards building a culture of respect and high regard for early childhood education that is apparent in teacher compensation, the right to admittance to care, and the ease of access to community-defined, high-quality programs.
