Zainab is a lead Pre-K teacher at Sandra Todd-Williams Academy, an Early Childhood Education center in Denver Public Schools. Currently she facilitates weekly team planning among her colleagues. During this time they discuss how to facilitate children in their learning and development and how to improve their practice as educators to ensure meeting the needs of the students and their families through a lens of equity and culturally responsive pedagogy.
In the past, she has served as a member of the School Leadership committee in her center for two years. This has given her the opportunity to evaluate their school’s educational program and its impact on student achievement. Presently, she is a member of the Instructional Leadership Team committee where she collaborates with other members in analyzing data related to school wide trends, culture, and opportunity gaps. She is enrolled in the Buell Early Childhood Leadership program, learning through an equity lens how to be a transformational and reflective leader through collective learning.
As a minority leading learner and the mother of 3 children she hopes to advocate for and give agency to minority children and their families, particularly BIPOC and Muslim refugees. She’s eager to work and learn in diverse spaces to learn collectively with others and build upon differences in a positive way through meaningful relationships.
Zainab has a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from University of Colorado in Denver and a B.A. in Human Development with an Early Childhood Education Licensure from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
